What does Tallasia mean?
As Dr. Girguis was pondering names for this company, his young son heard him utter the word “thalassophile.” This word, originating from the Greek words thálassa (sea) and phílos (loving/friend), describes a person who loves — and is irresistibly drawn to— the ocean.
Dr. Girguis’ son chimed in saying “so you’re a Tallasia guy?” And so Tallasia Consulting came to be; it’s a name that reminds Dr. Girguis of who and what he loves most.

Pete Girguis has been a professional Environmental Consultant since 2000. He is also a world-recognized marine scientist whose expertise cross-cuts marine ecology, microbiology, biogeochemistry, and sensor engineering and development. As a consultant, he employs a collaborative process that ensures transparency, consistency, and meaningful outcomes in a timely manner.
